We have finally landed team ‘Surf and the City’ and our flying NYC taxi cab arrived in Ottawa early this morning. Armed with lots of Red Bull and little sleep we got to work putting our precious cab back together. The event site overlooks the parliament building where we will launch into the Rideau Canal. In other exciting news we have gone public with our secret weapon…MR. BIG, that’s right 30ft of pink carbon fiber is how we will FLY!

Hello and welcome to my own little slice of cyber heaven. Since I am an anti pack rat this will act as an album of sorts; a place to document my experiences, stories, friends, fun, and all round life. So please kick your feet up and make yourself at home. …and grandma the next time you are questioning why you can’t get me on the phone, check here first, because more than anybody this is for you.

Tomorrow we leave for Ottawa!!

We will spend all day Friday and Saturday fine tuning our craft to get ready for the big flight!

Today we packed up our flying taxi so it could start on its journey across the country. We have been asked a lot lately how this thing is actually going to fly, well hopefully the blood, sweat and tears we shed over the last couple of weeks has something to do with it. Above is the final mile the taxi took before the plung into the Ottawa River on August 3rd.

We are hosting our Surf’s Up Gala at the Ocean Club on Thursday night in West Vancouver. Tickets are almost gone so get in touch with us to reserve yours ASAP. This is the last time the team will be together before we all meet in Ottawa next Friday, help us FLY!

Two weeks and counting, the Surf and the City NYC taxi cab (aka wing launcher) is starting to come together. We worked around the clock this weekend to refine some of the features of the cab, most importantly getting it lifted on 12’s which will roll right into the Ottawa River.

Quiksilver Canada staffers spent the afternoon helping out the cast of Surf and the City, it’s amazing we have actually accomplished something. The famous NYC taxi will debut at Flugtag on August 3rd and launch Carrie into the Ottawa River. A huge thank you goes out to Quiksilver Canada for throwing down a solid afternoon and helping us fly.

Our NYC taxi cab finally has a frame, check out all the photos now posted. Not much drama today, Charlotte is still afraid of jumping and Carrie broke a nail turning the pages of her magazine…the usual. Good thing we have some dedicated BABE fans who stepped in to swing a hammer.

We finally got some time out of the workshop today and hit the official airtime training facility at the UBC pool. We were fortunate enough to meet a group of students on the swim team who showed us some moves. Luckily we made it out of there with our bathing suits, we can now assure you the 20ft plunge is only for the very brave.
