One of my favorite aunts has embarked on an ambitious volunteer opportunity of a lifetime. She will be volunteering for a Women’s Health Mission called Pamoja Tunaweza that seeks to empower women living in Africa.  The mission is as unique as the 25 women who are participating. At the end of the Health Caravan they will all climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with a documentary film crew to tell the stories of the Tanzanian women.

Her personal goal is to raise $6,000.00 for the clinic; you can make a donation by visiting her giving page.

I got the official slip from Rock 101, I guess Rock Girl isn’t going to be my big break. It wasn’t Donald Trump that delivered the news, that alone I have to admit was a little disappointing. Do take the time to check out the remaining rock girl’s. I’m not sure how I will feel after round three but currently my vote goes to Cory! Awhile ago, actually a LONG time ago I signed up to volunteer for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Finally last night a friendly volunteer called for my initial screening, looks like I’ve passed the test. Now I’m signed up for a 5 hour interview/training session to further determine my capabilities. I think I would make a really good Miga…I’ve been working on my Miga voice.

I wanted to come up with a creative way to thank the Bro Jake Morning Show crew for having me and Ron Jeremy aka the Hedgehog on the air last week. These would have been on their desk this morning, I’m still laughing.

This morning I had the opportunity to sit in on Rock 101’s Bro Jake show at the crack of dawn. We chatted about winning a human powered flying contest and some other invigorating stuff. I would describe my overall experience as a little nerve racking but Jake, Marty, Corrie and Josh made me feel very welcome. Part of my audition was to come prepared with the phone number of a celebrity who I could get on the phone for a quick interview. On a regular day this is challenging, at 6:30am on a Thursday even more so. Major props to the ONE the ONLY…Ron Jeremy aka the Hedgehog who pulled through for me this morning. I will be on the radio tomorrow morning for my first on air trial at 6:30am. In addition to telling a story, making the hosts laugh and being put through the hoops, I also have to come armed with the phone number of a celebrity. I have made it to the next round of the Rock Girl competition. In addition to co-hosting the show, they announced this morning that the winner will also get a one-year lease on a Mercedes B-Class. Trust me if I win everyone gets a turn doing donuts!!

The more I learn about the Las Vegas Marathon the more I’m starting to believe the people behind this event are reading my mind. Today they announced plans for the inaugural Elvis All-You-Can-Eat Pasta and Karaoke Party at Mandalay Bay the night before the race. The chefs at Mandalay Bay are cooking up a mouth-watering menu fit for “The King”. There will be an Elvis karaoke contest with amazing prizes including a race week stay at Mandalay Bay and free race entry for 2009 (looks like I’m coming back next year). They will even have a no-host bar since experts agree beer is a great source of carbs, to bad that’s not part of my training regiment!

Seriously what kind of a freak get’s married at a run-thru wedding chapel. On December 7th I will be sure to stop at the 5th mile run-thru wedding chapel to find out.
